This is my lovely niece Courtney. For her 19th birthday my in-laws (her grandparents) surprised her with a trip to Durango. They arrived the end of August and adventured here for 10 days. One of our adventuring days included a hike and photo shoot at Spud Lake. I want my niece to recognize the beauty we all see in her. The purpose of this shoot was to document her at this stage in life at a sacred place on our planet. My wish for Courtney is to embrace her loveliness now, to try to understand the radiance she has in this moment and to live with the knowledge that anything is possible. I wish I could give everyone that gift, myself included.
The gift I did give her was my company on her first skinny dip ever. What?!?! Lucky for her it just happened to be at one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the world. I think it was the highlight of her vacation. My highlight anyway. 🙂
